Akili Africa Foundation (AAF) – Previous works and Initiatives

From the year 2018, AAF has done quite some work. Here are some of the initiatives done since then:

1. Futbol Mas league and Youth mentorship

Under its CSR arm, Akili Africa Foundation, Giza Systems proudly supported Fu

tbol Mas in organizing community league events in 2018, contributing significantly to their success. They managed key aspects of the budget, including transportation for children from their communities to the event venue and providing awards such as trophies. Their involvement went beyond sponsorship, actively inspiring hope among children and community members and reinforcing their commitment to development and wellbeing.

From 2018 to recently, Giza Systems also partnered with Futbol Mas on a mentorship program designed to empower youth. This collaboration offered internship opportunities for young participants to learn directly from Giza Systems experts in fields such as technology, IT, and accounting. The program included monthly stipends and awarded certificates upon completion, recognizing the participants' dedication and achievements.

Through these initiatives, Giza Systems demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering community development, empowering youth, and making a positive impact through meaningful partnerships with organizations like Futbol Mas.

2. Reflecting on the Urban Sole project (2018)

In 2018, Giza Systems Ltd, through its CSR arm, the Akili Africa Foundation, partnered with Parklands Arya Girls’ Secondary School on the Urban Sole Project, which aimed to create sustainable footwear from recycled materials.

This initiative not only addressed environmental challenges by repurposing waste but also empowered the local community by utilizing locally available resources and providing hundreds of shoes to underprivileged children and families in the "Deep Sea" slum of Parklands, Nairobi.

The project's success in diverting waste from landfills, enhancing children's lives and educational opportunities, and promoting local production exemplifies the powerful impact of corporate-community collaboration. Although the project ended in 2018, its legacy continues to inspire sustainable practices and community empowerment, with Giza Systems Ltd remaining committed to fostering innovation and sustainability worldwide.

3. Adopt a family initiative

Giza Systems Integration Kenya Ltd, through its CSR arm Akili Africa Foundation, implemented the "Adopt a Family" Initiative in 2020 to support 165 families in Nairobi's slums during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative provided essential one-month ration packs containing food and hygiene supplies, facilitated by collaborations with the Ramghariya Youth Association and Kenya Red Cross, adhering to strict government safety protocols. President Uhuru Kenyatta recognized their impactful community efforts, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to assisting vulnerable families.

4. Sustainable Children`s home project

The Akili Africa Foundation's Sustainable Children's Home Project at Mama Fauzia Children’s Home is committed to fostering self-sufficiency and reducing reliance on donor funds. This initiative aims to ensure ongoing care and support for the orphans at the facility through the integration of social entrepreneurship and profitable business ventures. Recent infrastructure improvements include comprehensive renovations of the boys' dormitory, repairs to cabinets in various areas, the installation of a solar power system, water heater repairs, and repainting the entire center. These enhancements have significantly improved living conditions and the overall functionality of the home. The project focuses on self-reliance through income-generating activities and sustainable practices, like solar power, to reduce operational costs and environmental impact. The Akili Africa Foundation remains dedicated to continually improving Mama Fauzia Children’s Home, providing a safe, nurturing environment where the children can thrive.
